ANP Uses FrameSeek to Track Image Reuse

The Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP) manages one of the largest photo archives in the Netherlands, containing millions of images that are distributed to newspapers, magazines, and media platforms worldwide. For ANP, understanding how and where these images are reused is essential to ensure fair licensing and proper monetization of their visual content.

Tracking this usage is far from simple. Images are often edited, cropped, recolored, or reused in different layouts, especially in print publications. Historically, ANP relied on a combination of different software vendors and manual workflows to monitor image reuse. This process was time-consuming, fragmented, and prone to errors.

One of the biggest challenges was scanning daily newspapers and magazines across multiple countries and comparing them against an archive containing tens of millions of images. Identifying matches across both print and digital media required enormous effort and still left room for missed detections.

With the introduction of FrameSeek, Verify’s advanced AI visual search model, this process has been fully automated.

FrameSeek continuously scans websites, digital publications, and printed newspapers, comparing them against ANP’s extensive image archive. Even when photos are cropped, edited, or partially reused, the system can still detect them with extremely high reliability.

The result is a dramatic improvement in both efficiency and accuracy. What previously required multiple tools and significant manual effort is now handled automatically by FrameSeek. Detection accuracy has increased to 99%, while the time required to identify image reuse has been reduced from hours of manual work to instant automated insights.

For ANP, this means complete visibility into how their images are used across the media landscape. The organization can now confidently enforce its fair licensing model, ensuring that image usage is properly tracked and monetized across both online and print media.

FrameSeek has transformed image monitoring for ANP, from a complex and labor- intensive process into scalable, AI-driven intelligence.

“Tracking image reuse across print and online media used to be an incredibly time-consuming process for us. We relied on multiple tools and a lot of manual checking, which made it difficult to get a complete and accurate overview. With FrameSeek, the entire workflow is automated. Even heavily edited or cropped photos are detected with remarkable accuracy. The biggest impact for us is that we now see exactly where our images are used, which has allowed us to invoice a significantly higher amount for licensed usage. It has fundamentally improved how we monetize our archive.”
